Managing Director
Daryn Dodson is Founder and Managing Director of Illumen Capital, an impact investing private equity firm that provides a pathway for investors to invest in the world’s top impact fund managers. Illumen invests and, through a partnership with Stanford University, reduces implicit biases of investees, unlocking latent return and impact.

Mr. Dodson’s experience in the impact investing field includes serving as a consultant to the Board of the Calvert funds, providing research and support services to the Board in connection with the funds’ Special Equities program. The Calvert Funds, with over $12 billion under management, are a recognized pioneer in the socially responsible investment field. Through this vehicle, Calvert has invested into more than 80 of the most transformative private equity funds and companies with a full range of themes including renewable energy, racial equity, gender equity, biotech, education technology and microfinance.

Prior to serving as a consultant to the Calvert Funds board, Mr. Dodson served as Director of University and Corporate Partnership for The Idea Village, where he created a platform engaging leading private equity firms, business schools, and Fortune 500 companies to invest over 100,000 hours and $2 million into more than 1,000 New Orleans entrepreneurs post-Hurricane Katrina. Prior to The Idea Village, Mr. Dodson built a coalition of national banks and faith-based institutions to educate Congress on reforms needed to stabilize the subprime lending market with Self-Help Credit Union.

Mr. Dodson currently serves on the Board of Directors for Ben and Jerry’s, chairing its Social Audit Committee, which measures the company’s social impact in 35 countries globally. He also serves as Vice Chair of the Heifer Foundation Board of Trustees.
Mr. Dodson earned his M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and an A.B. in Public Policy from Duke University. Mr. Dodson continues to maintain a close relationship with Stanford, through Illumen Capital’s partnerships with leading researchers and as Member of the Dean’s Management Board of the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
